Dylan Blows Into Canada With the Force of a Hurricane

What do the cities of Halifax, Moncton, St. John and Quebec City all have in common? If you said they are all in Canada, you are a geography expert. In addition to being Canadian cities, they are venues where living rock legend Bob Dylan is visiting on his current tour supporting his album "Love and Theft".

There are artists who have been touring for thirty years who have come nowhere near these cities - not even for a flight layover. So what gives? What does Bob Dylan (born Robert Allen Zimmerman) know that other artists do not?

Well, to start with, Dylan is well aware that he has fans on all corners of the globe that rarely, if ever, get to see a big name concert. He is doing something that most of today's greedy ass artists do not do - he is taking care of his fans at his expense.

What makes Bob's stops in these cities most admirable is the fact that the Canadian dollar is currently in a shambles compared to the American dollar and Euro. For a currency converter, go here. Therefore, he is making 65 cents to the dollar compared to playing an American or a European gig. It takes a legend like Bob Dylan to show today's jerk-off asshole artists how it is really done.

And another thing. In ten days Bob will be 61 years young. He could have easily done the "Madonna thing" and just toured in major cities, while fucking over fans in smaller cities and in Canada. Unlike the Material Girl, Bob is all about his fans, not the money. In stark contrast to Madonna, Bob speaks with actions and not words.

For Hurricane Bob

Another 80s disciple, Billy Idol, recently announced some summer tour dates. Billy Idol decided to pass over eastern Canada and in particular, Montreal. Bad move Billy. Really bad move.

Message to Billy: If you do not want your comeback to be Dead On Arrival, get your fuck'n ass on that Blue Highway and come Rock The Cradle here in Montreal. Otherwise, you can join The Dead Next Door and start Dancing With Yourself.

Being a product of the '80s, at times I feel ashamed to have self-indulgent artists like Billy and Madonna as a part of my Generation X. At times, I relate more to Bob Dylan and his generation, where taking care of the fans, not fucking them over, was the priority.

And that is why Bob is a living legend and Billy is, well, Billy. If you are looking for Billy Idol's tour dates, we will post them if he decides to add Montreal to his itinerary. If not, Billy can take his Generation X and shove it up Madonna's ass!

Bob Dylan will be appearing at Montreal's Molson Centre on August 12th. For tickets, please visit Admission.com.
