Feb 18, 2002 Artists Debasing Themselves By Appearing At Grammys Check out this LA Times story which states that Grammy Awards "head" Michael Greene has settled a sexual harassment case for $650,000.00. The sexual assault and battery claims were made by Grammy executive Jill Geimer. According to Greene's lame ass explanation, "Our leadership has convinced me that it is in everyone's best interest for me to give up my right to litigate for defamation and to forgo my ability to vindicate myself, as well as the organization, through due process." Fact or fiction? Why is Greene's statement suspect? Towards the bottom of the story it states the following: "Grammy sources say Greene will pay nearly half of the $650,000 settlement, with a sexual misconduct liability insurance policy covering most of the remainder." The fact that the insurance company is paying half of the settlement is the key here. Any insurance novice knows that no liability insurance carrier would pay a dime to settle such a claim, unless of course they had conclusive evidence which would be damaging to their case. The settlement money, which is being paid by the insurance company, is authorized by the insurance company, not Michael Greene. In fact, for reasons involving conflict of interest, Mr. Greene has absolutely no say in the insurance company's liability settlement. The insurance company investigated this matter and it is they who have exclusive authorization to settle or defend the case. After all, it is their money. Therefore, if the insurance company had any reasonable doubt about the alleged sexual harassment incident occurring, they would have defended this case, not settled it. Apparently, the carrier had information which was obviously damaging to Mr. Greene's defense, and thus shut down the case by settling it. Do you still believe Mr. Greene is an innocent bystander? Yeah, right! This brings us to the artists who have decided to appear on an awards show which is run by an alleged pervert. These musicians obviously have no credibility and are discrediting and disgracing themselves by appearing on a show which is run by such a character. Sexually harassing women is not to be taken lightly. By appearing on the Grammys, these artists apparently feel that this is a frivolous matter. If these artists had one ounce of decency, they would have boycotted the Grammys until Mr. Greene was removed from his position. However, it is more important for these sell out artists to get the cheesy promotion and make a buck rather than to stand up for what is right. Maybe these artists think that sexually abusing a woman is acceptible and is no big deal. If I were a female artist and was invited to attend the Grammys, I would have told Mr. Greene to go fuck himself. We can just picture our favorite Irish leprechaun bringing home a few Grammys to his children and saying, "You see these awards kids, they were given to me by an alleged pervert and all of his friends. Are you proud of me?" In addition, what does this say about the credibility of the Grammys? What does it say about the credibility of the Grammys board, who decided to keep Mr. Greene on board. And this is supposed to be an impartial awards show? Yeah, right! The article also mentions six other female employees who have also alleged harassment and discrimination against Mr. Greene. Is this just a coincidence. Yeah, right! Over the past decade, the Grammys have reduced themselves to a lip syncing tit and ass parade. Music has taken a back seat to clowns masquerading as artists making total fools of themselves. This year's show has the added attraction of artists debasing themselves by being attending a show thrown by an individual whose morality raises many questions. It is high time that Mr. Greene take a long walk off of a short pier. To attempt to gain any sort of respectability, the Grammys need to clean up their act big time. From the looks of it, there is no better place to start cleaning house than right up at the top. To honor and remember Mr. Greene, maybe the Grammys should change their names to the PVs. It is alleged there may be at least one PV at the theatre in Los Angeles next week. -Sphinx- "There's Only 1 Station" |
